American Apple Honey Pie

By: Granny Ruth

Bake: 425°F
Time: 1 Hour
Servings: 8 Slices of Pie

Please enjoy this classic apple pie recipe from Granny’s kitchen, with a honey and American themed twist!

Ingredients
□ 1 Pre-made Pie Crust (Pillsbury Ready-to-Bake)
□ 6 Apples (Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, etc. Apple of your choice, best for baking)
□ ½ Cup Honey
□ 1 tsp Cinnamon
□ ⅛ tsp Ground Nutmeg
□ ¼ tsp Salt
□ 4 Tbsp All-Purpose Four

Directions
Step 1
Wash apples, peel and slice into thin slices, place in a large bowl

Step 2
Pour honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and flour into the bowl with the apples and stir until well combined.

Step 3
Place Pre-made pie crust in pie dish and roll edges
underneath along rim of dish

Step 4
Pour apple mixture into the prepared pie crust

Step 5
Lay other sheet of pie crust over the top of the pie and crimp edges using your fingers around entire pie.
Here is where you can be creative! You can use the pie crust sheet to decorate the top of your pie anyway you would like. For this pie in particular, we cut the pie crust sheet to create strips and used a mini star cookie cutter for the stars. Then we used red and blue food coloring to paint on top of the pie crust sheets, to emphasize the patriotic theming. Perfect for America’s 250th Birthday!

Step 6
Once you have finished decorating the top, bake at 425°F for 20 minutes, then place a pie crust ring on top (covering the rim to prevent burning). Continue to bake for an hour until apples are soft. Enjoy!
