With the Scary Losses in honey bee colonies being reported and not knowing the exact cause I was shared a paper from 2018 titled, “Feedbacks between nutrition and disease in honey bee health” by Adam Dolezal and Amy Toth, found in Science Direct. No negative health impacts are active by themselves but might be multiple environmental stressors linking together to cause ‘sickness’. The research paper explores forage/nutrition deficits and parasites and pathogens. “This sets up the potential for harmful feedbacks between poor nutrition and infectious disease that may contribute to spiraling declines in honey bee health.”
